A Law Firm SEO Agency That Reports on Signed Cases

Moha is a law firm SEO agency for practices that measure marketing in signed matters rather than sessions. We run the practice area pages, the city pages, the Business Profile, the reviews, the technical work and the links, and every month we report consultations booked and cases signed. Legal is the most expensive category in paid search anywhere, which is precisely why ranking in it is worth so much.

Thank you. We have your details and will send the audit back shortly.

Free, and no call required. We send back the practice areas we would target first and what they cost.

Where clients find you

Three places a potential client finds a lawyer, and how our SEO covers each

Somebody is rear ended on a Tuesday morning. By the afternoon, in pain and holding a police report, they search on a phone. They do not read ten websites. They look at the three firms on the map, glance at the results underneath, and increasingly read an AI summary that has already shortlisted two names. That sequence decides where a case worth tens of thousands of dollars goes, and it takes about ninety seconds.

01 · Local

The Map Pack on Google Maps

Three firms on a map, above everything else. Google ranks them on relevance, distance and prominence. For a personal injury or criminal defence firm this is the highest intent surface in existence, because the search happens at the worst moment of somebody's year and they call immediately.

02 · Organic

The organic search results

Below the map, search engine optimization in the classic sense decides it: keyword research, on-page SEO, off-page SEO, technical SEO, content and backlinks. Organic traffic is how a firm wins the researched matters, the estate plan, the business dispute, the immigration petition, where the client reads for a week before calling.

03 · AI answers

AI Overviews and ChatGPT

AI Overviews and assistants now answer a large share of legal questions outright. Google states there are no special requirements to appear in AI Overviews: be indexed, be eligible for a snippet, be genuinely helpful. A firm that answers real questions properly is quotable. A firm with ten thin practice area pages is not.

Why legal is different

No profession in America is more crowded than yours

The Census Bureau counts every business in the country by industry. Offices of lawyers is the largest professional category there is, ahead of estate agents, dentists and every trade. That is the room you are standing in when a potential client searches, and it is the reason being findable is not optional.

What that means in practice

166,972 law offices employ 1,078,148 people between them, and almost every one of those offices is competing for a handful of search terms in its own city. The number that matters is not the national one, it is how many of those firms are within driving distance of the client you want.

In a large metro that is a few hundred firms fighting over the same three Map Pack slots. It is why winning on a broad term is so expensive and so slow, and why a firm that goes after a specific matter type in a specific place gets there in a fraction of the time. The audit tells you which of those you can realistically take.

Worth knowing

Legal is also the most expensive vertical in marketing generally: the terms agencies bid on to reach law firms run to $95.21 a click, higher than any other profession we work in.

Semrush, United States, September 2026. That is the cost of reaching a firm, not a client; your own client side costs need your own campaign data, which we pull during the audit.

What we do

What a law firm SEO agency should actually do each month

Ten services, run by one team: practice area and city pages, keyword research, on-page SEO, technical SEO, content, link building, the Business Profile, review management, AI search and reporting. Nothing is subcontracted and there is no software for you to learn.

The order matters more in legal than in any other industry we work in, because the difference between a practice area that pays and one that does not can be a factor of fifty in case value. We decide that order from your own numbers before anything gets written.

01

Practice area pages that are built to rank and to convert

Most firm websites have one page per practice area, four hundred words long, written once and never touched. Those pages cannot rank against a competitor with a thousand words of genuine explanation, and they do not convert the visitors they do get, because they answer nothing the client actually asked.

We rebuild each practice area you want more of as a real page: what the process looks like, how long it takes, what it costs or how the fee works, what happens first, and who at the firm handles it. One primary keyword per page, so your car accident page and your truck accident page never compete.

One primary keyword per areaProcess and fee questions answeredNamed attorney per areaInternal linking
02

Keyword research that starts from case value, not volume

Legal keyword research is the only kind where the biggest number on the page is usually the wrong target. A general "lawyer" term in your city will have the most searches and the least intent. The terms that signal a specific, urgent, high value matter have a fraction of the volume and most of the money.

So we rank candidate keywords by the value of the matter behind them and by difficulty, not by volume. What comes out is an ordered list of what to build and when, with the reasoning attached to each line, and you approve it before anything is written. That ordering is the whole SEO strategy in one decision, and getting it wrong is how a firm ends up paying for traffic that never signs.

03

City and county pages for the places you actually practise

Legal search is intensely local. Almost nobody looking for a lawyer types a bare practice area; they type it with a city, a county or a court attached, and Google answers them with firms near where they are standing. A single page covering six towns competes properly for none of them. The profile and office side of this is local SEO for law firms, where Google's rules on offices decide more than most firms expect.

We build a page for each place you genuinely practise, from that place's own courts, its own kinds of matters and its own client questions. Pages that change only the city name get treated as duplicates, and we have measured that failure directly on our own city pages, so we do not repeat it here.

04

Technical SEO: speed, mobile, crawling and schema

Technical SEO covers what lets search engines crawl, understand and trust your site: Core Web Vitals, mobile layout, indexing, redirects, broken links, sitemaps and structured data. Most legal searches happen on a phone, often at a difficult moment, and a slow site loses them before it says anything.

Firms with several offices lose the most here. Each office needs its own LegalService and LocalBusiness markup pointing at its own profile and page, or Google consolidates them and the satellite office quietly disappears from the map while the head office keeps ranking.

05

Content that answers what clients ask before they call

Search engines rank the page that answers the question best, and in legal the questions are unusually consistent: how much will this cost, how long will it take, do I have a case, what happens if I do nothing, and what will it be like to work with you. Most firm websites answer none of those.

Our content strategy turns those questions into pages that earn organic traffic and consultations. Content marketing in legal is not publishing for the sake of it; each piece exists because a real client asked that question before hiring somebody. It is also where the compliance work sits, because a page that answers a fee question has to do so without creating an expectation the rules do not allow.

06

Link building with sources a bar association would recognise

Backlinks remain one of the strongest authority signals, and legal is a category where the credible sources are obvious: bar associations, law school alumni pages, legal aid and community organisations you already support, local press when you win something notable, and the directories that lawyers genuinely use.

We do not buy links, use private networks, or place guest posts on sites that exist only to sell links. Beyond the ranking risk, a firm's link profile is a professional reputation in public, and it is not worth renting out.

07

Google Business Profile and citations, one per real office

The profile is what appears in the Map Pack, and legal has the strictest version of a rule every industry has: the business name must be the name you really practise under, with no added keywords. "Smith Law" is fine. "Smith Law Personal Injury Attorney Houston" is a suspension waiting to happen and, in several states, an advertising rule problem as well.

We set the categories to match the practice areas you actually want, complete the services, keep hours accurate, and correct citations back to the name on your bar registration so every listing agrees. That is local SEO for a single office, with the bar rules decided first.

08

Review management that stays inside the rules

Reviews move rankings and they move decisions, and legal is the category where replying to them is most dangerous. A reply that confirms somebody was a client, or that argues with their account of a matter, can be a confidentiality problem regardless of how unfair the review was.

We set requests to go out when a matter closes, reply to every review in the firm's voice, and never confirm, deny or discuss whether a reviewer was a client or what happened in their matter. That constraint is not a limitation we work around; it is the brief. The only other profession on this site where a reply carries the same weight is dentistry, where a practice was fined for answering a review.

AI search optimization for AI Overviews and ChatGPT

Ask an assistant which firm to call after a crash and it will name two or three without showing a results page. Moha is an AI powered digital marketing agency, so this sits inside the SEO work rather than beside it. There is no submission form and no setting, whatever anybody is selling.

What an AI answer needs is a firm whose details agree everywhere, pages that answer in the opening line, genuine local and procedural detail, and a reputation it can verify. One of our clinic clients now quoted inside Google's AI answers, and the method transfers directly to a practice area page.

Reporting in consultations and signed cases

Rankings and sessions are not the product. Each month we report calls from Google, form fills, consultations booked and, where your intake system allows it, matters signed, split by practice area and by office.

That split is the whole report in a multi practice firm, because an average hides the fact that your family law pages are carrying your personal injury pages or the reverse. Rankings, organic traffic and the conversion rate of each page appear as the explanation for why the leads moved, and anything not working is named on the first page rather than buried.

Practice areas

SEO for the practice areas where one matter pays for the year

There are 166,972 law offices in the United States employing 1,078,148 people, according to the Census Bureau's County Business Patterns. Almost all of them are competing for the same few search terms in their city. The way out is not to compete harder on "lawyer near me", it is to be unmistakably the best answer for the specific matters you want.

Personal injury SEO

The most valuable and most contested category in legal search, and the one where the competition is national firms with television budgets rather than the practice down the road. Broad injury terms in a large metro are among the most expensive words in advertising anywhere. Volume is not where a regional firm wins. Specific matter types are: rideshare collisions, commercial truck cases, dog bites, premises liability in named venues, wrongful death. Each gets its own page answering what the process looks like and how the fee works. The Map Pack matters more here than in any other practice area, because the search often happens within hours of the incident.

Family law SEO

The buying behaviour here is nothing like personal injury. The client researches quietly for weeks, usually late at night, before contacting anybody at all, and what they are choosing is a person rather than a firm. That changes the content brief entirely. Attorney biography pages do real work here. Process explanations do real work. The questions are about custody, timelines, what a first meeting involves and what it will cost. Reviews matter enormously and are also the most sensitive to reply to, so the replies stay warm and say nothing about anybody's matter.

Criminal defence SEO

The most urgent search in legal after a serious injury. Somebody has been arrested or a family member is in custody, and the search is happening at two in the morning on a phone with a low battery. Speed, visibility and a phone answered at that hour decide it. The work is unglamorous: a profile with genuinely accurate out of hours availability, charge specific pages for the offences you actually defend, pages for the courts you appear in, and a site that loads on a poor connection. Very few defence firms have done any of it, which is why this is one of the easier practice areas to take a position in.

Bankruptcy SEO

A researched, anxious and heavily stigmatised decision, which makes it one of the best fits for content led SEO in the whole of legal. The client wants to understand chapter 7 against chapter 13, what they keep, what it costs and whether anybody will know, long before they will speak to a lawyer. Firms that answer those questions properly win the matters, because the client has already decided you are safe to call by the time they pick up the phone. This is also a practice area where fee transparency converts unusually well, and where the advertising rules about promised outcomes need watching most closely.

Immigration SEO

The practice area where a second language is least optional. A firm handling family petitions or asylum work whose website exists only in English is invisible to a large share of the people who need it, and those searches are far less contested than their English equivalents. We build real pages in the languages your clients actually use rather than machine translations, mark each language up so the versions support each other instead of competing, and reply to reviews in the language they were written in. Immigration is also unusually national: a firm can genuinely serve clients far outside its city, which changes the city page strategy.

Estate planning and probate SEO

The slowest and most predictable of these categories, and the one where organic content compounds best. Nobody searches for an estate lawyer in a panic; they search after a birthday, a diagnosis, a death in the family or a property purchase, and they read for a long time first. Long form explanation genuinely ranks here, and it keeps ranking. Probate has a strong local component because it follows the county court, so county level pages work well. This is also the practice area where AI answers matter most, because the questions are informational and an assistant will attempt them.

Only in legal

The advertising rules your SEO has to live inside

Every industry we work in has a compliance angle. Legal is the only one where getting it wrong reaches your licence rather than your rankings. A law firm SEO agency that has not read your state's rules is not saving you money.

What the model rules require of a website

Most states base their advertising rules on the American Bar Association's Model Rules of Professional Conduct. Under Model Rule 7.2, a lawyer may pay for advertising including online directory listings, domain registrations, internet advertisements and the services of website designers and marketing staff. Two requirements follow it: any communication must include the name and contact information of at least one lawyer or law firm responsible for its content, and if a matter is likely to be referred to another firm, the communication has to say so.

Estate agents live under a comparable regime, and our page on brokerage and licence disclosure for agents sets out how it works there. Rule 7.1 sits above all of it and is the one that actually bites: a communication about a lawyer's services must not be false or misleading. In practice that is where most SEO copy goes wrong, not through anything exotic, but through a results page that implies a typical outcome or a headline that promises something no lawyer can promise.

Where SEO copy usually breaks the rule

Superlatives that cannot be substantiated. Past results presented without context. Testimonials that imply a similar outcome. Specialist or expert claims where the state restricts them to certified specialists. A business name in Google that is not the firm's real name.

This describes how we write your pages. It is not legal advice, and your own bar's rules govern.

The filing question, and the answer most agencies get wrong

Several states require lawyer advertisements to be filed with the bar before or shortly after they run, and agencies frequently either ignore that or assume it covers everything. Florida is the clearest example of how the rule actually works: under The Florida Bar's advertising regulation, lawyer websites and blogs are exempt from the filing requirement, while the content rules still apply to them in full.

So a Florida firm does not file its website, but every claim on it is still governed. The bar also allows a firm to voluntarily submit a specific page, statement or photograph for an opinion and obtain a safe harbour from discipline, which is worth doing for anything genuinely borderline. Texas runs its own filing regime through the State Bar's advertising review, and New York, California and Georgia each have their own variations. We check yours before writing, not after.

Florida, as the worked example
Websites and blogs are exempt from filing, but remain subject to the content rules, and a firm may voluntarily file a specific page or statement for a safe harbour opinion.

The Florida Bar, advertising regulation. Confirm current requirements with your own bar before relying on any of this.

Reviews, and the reply that ends a career

Every other industry on this site benefits from replying to reviews in detail. Legal is the exception, and it is the single most common way a firm's marketing creates a real problem. A reply that confirms somebody was a client, corrects their account of what happened, or explains why they were difficult, can disclose information about a representation.

Our rule is absolute and it does not bend for an unfair review: we never confirm, deny or discuss whether a reviewer was a client, and we never reference anything about a matter. What a reply can do is be warm, professional, and invite the person to contact the firm directly. That reads well to every future client scrolling past, which is the only audience that matters.

Worth knowing

This constraint is also a competitive advantage, because most firms either do not reply at all or reply badly under provocation. A consistent, careful reply on every review, good and bad, is visible proof of how the firm handles pressure.

Why Moha

Why firms choose Moha as their law firm SEO agency

Most agencies in this category sell rankings and report sessions. In a practice where one signed matter can be worth more than a year of marketing, that is the wrong unit entirely. We run the whole job and report consultations and cases. You get SEO experts and a dedicated strategist, AI doing the repetitive work, and nothing to manage yourself. Your strategist is an SEO consultant who knows your practice areas, not an account manager forwarding a report somebody else wrote.

Watch

Replying to reviews, from Google itself

Legal is the category where a review reply carries the most risk and the most upside. Every future client reads them, and a careless one can disclose a representation. This short video from Google's own help channel shows the mechanics. The judgement about what a reply may say is the part we handle for you.

Questions

Law firm SEO questions partners ask

Collected from what firms ask on Quora, in Google's own Business Profile community and on the Local Search Forum, and from the questions people type into Google.

With Moha it starts at $3,000 a month on the Launch plan and $4,800 on Growth, with custom pricing for multi office firms or several practice areas. Judge that against the alternative rather than against other industries: advertisers in this category pay between $54 and $95 for a single click, so one month of a competitive paid campaign often costs more than a quarter of SEO.

Narrower, almost always. The broad term in a large city is dominated by firms with television budgets and it attracts a great deal of unqualified contact. Specific matter types, rideshare collisions, commercial vehicle cases, a named venue, a named court, have a fraction of the volume and a far higher share of the matters you actually want to sign.

It depends on your state and the answer surprises people. In Florida, websites and blogs are exempt from the filing requirement while remaining fully subject to the content rules, and a firm may voluntarily submit a specific page for a safe harbour opinion. Other states run different regimes, and Texas has its own advertising review. We check your state's position before writing and tell you what it requires. Confirm it with your bar before relying on anything here.

Yes, and within a strict rule: nothing we write will confirm, deny or discuss whether the person was a client, and nothing will reference a matter. What a reply can do is be calm, professional and invite direct contact. That is not a weak reply, it is the one that reads best to the next client scrolling past, and it keeps a confidentiality problem from being created by your marketing.

Profile and citation corrections can show within weeks. Competitive practice areas in large markets usually need six to twelve months of steady content, reviews and links before rankings move substantially, because your competitors have been publishing for a decade. Narrow matter types and county level pages move considerably faster, which is why we start there.

Researches how clients with your kind of matter actually search, rebuilds the practice area pages you want more of, fixes the site so Google can read and trust it, keeps the Business Profile accurate, runs review requests and replies, builds credible links, and reports consultations and signed matters. The ten services above are exactly that list.

Law firm marketing is the whole picture: your brand, referrals, events, sponsorships, paid search, social and search. SEO for lawyers is one channel inside it, the one that makes your firm the answer when somebody is already looking for help. It tends to be the channel with the best long term arithmetic in this category, because the same position keeps delivering after the spending stops, but it works far better when the rest of the marketing is not contradicting it. If you want both, our SEO services for law firms sit alongside paid search on the same plan rather than in separate silos.

Usually yes, because you are not competing with them for the same thing. A national advertiser is buying broad terms at scale. A three attorney firm wins by being unmistakably the best answer for specific matters in specific places, which is a fight the large advertiser is not really having. The arithmetic is also kind: at a $6,000 average fee, two or three extra signed matters a month is a transformative result and a modest one to aim for.

It depends on your state and it is one of the most regulated parts of legal advertising. Some bars restrict testimonials that imply a similar result, some require disclaimers, and the model rules require that nothing be false or misleading. We check your rules and write to them. What is never in doubt is that fabricated or edited testimonials are out, in every state and on every platform.

The firm must. Your own account as primary owner of the profile, the website and the analytics, with the agency added as a manager. A profile with years of reviews attached to a practice is a genuine asset, and owners on the Local Search Forum regularly describe losing one held in an agency account. An agency that requires ownership is telling you what it expects when you try to leave.

No. Google requires the name you use in the real world, and adding "personal injury attorney" or a city to your firm name risks suspension of the listing and everything attached to it. In several states it is also an advertising rule problem, because the firm name is a communication about your services. Use categories and services for that, which is what they exist for.

Nobody can promise it, because there is nothing to submit and nothing to enable. Google's documentation says appearing in its AI features needs nothing beyond being indexed, snippet eligible and genuinely useful. In legal that favours firms that actually answer the process and fee questions, because an assistant has something substantive to quote. Thin practice area pages give it nothing.

No, and in this category a guarantee should end the conversation, because Map Pack results move with where the searcher is standing and organic results move with everything else. We commit to the work and report the outcome that pays you, which is consultations booked and matters signed.

Reporting in consultations booked and matters signed, not rankings alone. The Business Profile, the website and every tracking number held in the firm's own accounts. A working knowledge of how your state applies Model Rules 7.1 and 7.2, since every page must still name a lawyer or firm responsible for its content. And results from firms like yours that you can verify. Law firm SEO experts worth hiring will tell you what they would change first and how you will know it worked, which is a better test of the best SEO company for lawyers than any ranking promise.

Several, if you genuinely practise there, and only if each one is built from that place's own courts, venues, matter types and questions. We size that demand from your own market's export during the audit rather than guessing at it. What does not work is one page per city with the name swapped, which Google treats as duplicates and we have measured failing.

In immigration work, almost certainly. In personal injury in a market with a large non English speaking population, very often. Elsewhere it is a decision rather than a default. We look at the languages your own reviews, calls and intake forms already use before recommending it, and when we do it we write real pages rather than machine translations.
